Who I am

This site is run by Harry Hawkins, trading as Harry H. I am the data controller for the personal data described here, which means I decide why it is collected and what happens to it.

What I collect

Four things, and two of them only happen if you choose to contact me.

The enquiry form

The form on the contact page is hosted by my CRM provider and displayed here inside a frame served from link.3rive.ai. When you submit it, the details go to that provider rather than being stored on this website. It asks for your first and last name, your organisation, your phone number, your email address and whatever you write in the message field.

Booking a call

The booking link on the contact page opens a scheduling page run by the same provider. If you book, it records your name, your email address and the slot you chose.

Technical data from visiting the site

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic request data such as your IP address, your browser and device type, and the time of the request. This is used to serve the pages, to keep the site available and to protect it from abuse. I do not use it to identify individual visitors.

Analytics, but only if you accept it

This site can use Google Analytics 4, and it asks you first. Until you accept, the analytics script is never requested and no analytics cookie is set. If you decline, or if you simply ignore the banner, it stays off.

If you do accept, it records which pages you look at, how you arrived, for example from a search engine or a link, your approximate location from your IP address, and the type of device and browser you are using. Google does not store your full IP address in the analytics data.

I use it to see which pages are worth writing more of and which are not working. I do not use it to identify you, and I do not connect it to anything you send me through the enquiry form.

Cookies

Analytics is the only thing on this site that sets cookies of its own, and it only does so once you have accepted. It then sets two, _ga and _ga_FQP15G56GH, which distinguish a returning visitor from a new one and last up to two years.

Your answer is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, so declining does not itself store a cookie. Nothing on the site stops working whichever way you answer.

You can change your mind whenever you like: reopen the cookie choice, or use the Cookies link in the footer of any page. Choosing to decline after previously accepting also clears the analytics cookies already on your device. If you would rather not rely on this site at all, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on.

The embedded form and the booking page are served by my CRM provider and may set their own cookies inside their own frame, under their privacy terms rather than mine. They only load on the contact page and when you follow the booking link.

What I do not do

• There are no advertising tags on this site, and no tracking pixels beyond the analytics described above.
• The fonts are served from this domain rather than a font network, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you were here.
• I do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list because you sent an enquiry.

Why I use it, and the lawful basis

• To reply to you and scope the work. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to people who ask me to.
• To run and protect the site. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in keeping it available, fast and free from abuse.
• To see how the site is used. The lawful basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time from the Cookies link in the footer. Withdrawing it does not affect anything done while it was in place.
• To meet legal and accounting obligations once you become a client, where the lawful basis is legal obligation.

Who else sees it

I keep this list short on purpose. Your data is handled by:

• My hosting provider, Cloudflare, which serves the site and processes request data.
• Google, which provides the analytics described above and processes the data behind it.
• My CRM and scheduling provider, which receives and stores enquiries and bookings.
• My email provider, if you email me directly.

These providers act on my instructions. Some of them operate outside the United Kingdom, so your data may be transferred abroad. Where that happens it is covered by the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision. If you want the current detail on a specific provider, ask me and I will tell you.

How long I keep it

Enquiries and bookings are kept for as long as we are in contact about the work, and then for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back. If you become a client, records connected to the engagement are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Nothing is kept longer than it is useful, and you can ask me to delete it sooner.

Analytics records are held by Google for the retention period set on the account, after which Google deletes them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:

• tell you what personal data I hold about you, and give you a copy
• correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• delete it
• restrict what I do with it, or object to me using it
• send it to you or another provider in a portable format
• stop using anything you agreed to, by withdrawing your consent

Email [email protected] and I will deal with it within one month. There is no charge.

If you are not happy with how I have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. I would rather you came to me first so I can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts collecting something it does not collect today, this page changes before that happens, and the date at the top changes with it.
